Building loudspeakers is not so difficult
Have you ever tried building loudspeakers on your own? To build a speaker box is not that difficult, although speakers are basically electromechanical transducers which convert electrical signals, for example from music instruments into sound. When you know how to build a speaker, you can build your own speaker box for your hifi unit. It is important, however, to use the appropriate materials and dispose of the necessary know how.
To build speakers and speaker boxes, wooden plates are highly recommended for the speaker enclosure. Wood supports a more natural sound. Wooden products can be chip boards, but also medium-density fibreboards are suitable for speaker chassis. Sometimes also more robust materials such as acryl and concrete are used for loudspeaker construction. It is highly important that the materials used in the loudspeaker building process do not linger. The easiest way to test this is by knocking on the materials. If there is an echo, the material is not suitable for loudspeaker builders. When designing speakers, it is essential to keep in mind that the walls of the devices should not be thicker than 16mm for smaller boxes and 19mm for bigger boxes.
As a speaker builder, you should keep in mind that the loudspeaker chassis is well glued, for example by wood glue or glue which is usually used for industrial purposes. When using wood glue, experts recommend using in addition silicone to fix the box from its inside.
For a perfect look, you can also decide to veneer the boxes. Veneer material, as well as all the other required parts for loudspeaker building, is available in different colours and designs in specialised trade. It is recommended to let overlap the veneer material for approximately two centimetres. There are two options for effective veneering: Firstly, you can iron the veneering material. You put wood glue on the plates and wait until it becomes transparent. Put on the veneering material and iron it. Secondly, compression is an option, too. You again use wood glue, but place the veneer material directly afterwards on the plates. By smooth and permanent compression of the material, the veneer is glued on the plates.
If you want to build a subwoofer box, need an international diplexer manufacturer or are looking for business matchings in the loudspeaker wholesale, the new B2B portal on music and instruments is a good tool for information gathering. Companies in the wholesale of speakers or the diplexer wholesale are listed in supplier databases.
